Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
This policy explains what data the ChangeMap iPhone app and the ChangeMap website process. The app and the website are owned by Artem Guzhva, Thailand. Contact: changemapapp@gmail.com.
In short
- There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your location is not sent to our server. The one exception is the pin in the "Add an exchange office" form if you send the form without moving the pin (see below).
- The app has no ads, analytics, counters or tracking. We don't sell data or share it for advertising.
1. Loading rates
The app downloads the list of cities, exchange offices, rates and converter rates from our server. These requests contain no data about you — only which city is needed, the app's interface language (so that data captions come in your language) and, as with any iPhone app, the app version and iOS version in the standard technical request headers. The last response is saved on your phone so the app works offline.
2. Forms
Data is sent to our server only when you send one of the forms yourself: "Report a wrong rate", "Report a problem" or "Add an exchange office". A form contains:
- your answers: reason, currency, the rate on the board and banknote group, details (for example, new opening hours) and comment; for "Add an exchange office" — the coordinates of the pin on the map, name, address, currencies and comment;
- the number of the exchange office the form is about;
- the app language, app version and build type (TestFlight or App Store);
- an install ID — a random number the app creates when you send your first form and keeps only on your phone. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or advertising identifier, and it is deleted when you delete the app. Forms are stored on our server together with this install ID: we use it to limit the number of forms from one phone and to see which forms were sent from the same install;
- a random form ID (so that resending after a connection error doesn't create a copy) and the time the form was filled in, by the phone's clock. The server adds the time it received the form.
The app doesn't send photos. Please don't include personal information in comments.
3. Location
The app asks for location access only "while using the app". Your location is used on your phone to show distances to exchange offices, the nearest ones and routes. It is not sent to or stored on our server. The app works without location access: distances are then measured from the city center.
- Apple Maps. To calculate road distances and show a route on the map, the app sends your location and the exchange office's coordinates to Apple's map service (MapKit). Apple processes this data under its own privacy policy.
- "Add an exchange office". The pin on the map starts where you are (if location access is allowed), otherwise in the city center. When you send the form, the pin's coordinates are sent to our server. If you didn't move the map, these will be the coordinates of a place near you.
4. IP address and server logs
Like any server on the internet, our server sees the IP address a request comes from. We don't write the IP addresses of app users and website visitors to the database or to server logs. The one exception is the login page of our own admin panel: to protect it from password guessing, the IP address of each login attempt is recorded in a security log. When forms are sent, the IP address is used only in the server's memory to limit the number of forms from one address (spam protection), and it disappears when the server restarts. Our hosting provider may briefly keep technical request logs (see Render below).
5. Third-party services
- Render (render.com) hosts our server and database (Singapore region). Requests reach our server through Cloudflare's network, which Render uses. Render and Cloudflare process technical request data, including IP addresses, under their own privacy policies.
- Apple — the map and routes (MapKit), and the App Store.
- The "Go" button opens the app you choose: Apple Maps, Google Maps (the app or google.com/maps), Grab or Bolt. Apple Maps receives the exchange office's coordinates and name, Google Maps and Grab receive its coordinates, and Bolt is simply opened. If the app isn't installed, its App Store page opens. We don't pass your location to these apps; their own terms apply from there.
- Frankfurter is the source of market rates for the converter. Our server downloads them; the app doesn't contact Frankfurter — Settings only has a link to its website.
The app contains no third-party libraries for ads, analytics or crash reporting.
6. Data on your phone
Your settings (currency, city, theme, color), converter pairs, your favorites, the last place you got directions to (“You viewed”), the last server response, the install ID and a technical record of the last failed data update (error code and time) are stored only on your phone and are deleted when you delete the app. The amounts you enter and the currency you choose are stored only on your device and are not sent to our server.
7. How long we keep data
Forms are kept on our server for no longer than 12 months from the date we receive them and are then deleted automatically. We will delete them sooner on request.
8. Website
The ChangeMap website uses no cookies, scripts, visitor counters or external fonts.
9. Accessing or deleting your data
Email changemapapp@gmail.com. We don't know who you are, so please tell us which forms you sent and roughly when (and, if you remember, what they said) — this lets us find and delete them. We will reply within 30 days.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
